Excursions/Meetings

Information on upcoming Study Group activities will be posted here from time to time. Please check back regularly to see if any activities are planned for your area.

South-east Queensland:

Meetings and excursions start at 9:30 am on the first Sunday of the month unless otherwise advised.

  • Sunday, 6th May, 2018. Meet at 9:30am at Claire & Don Shackel's residence, Upper Mt Gravatt for a discussion on Lastreopsis and another look at Claire's fern propagation efforts.
  • Sunday, 3rd June, 2018. Cascades Walk, Upper Currumbin Creek, in the Gold Coast hinterland.
  • Sunday, 1st July, 2018. Meet at 9:30am at Helen Jeremy's residence, Bardon, with a fall-back alternative to visit the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens if Helen is unable to host the meeting. Topic to be advised, but to include planning for Sept to February events.
  • Sunday, 5th August, 2018. Mary Cairncross Park, via Maleny, Blackall Range (chance to see Romnalda strobilacea, a rare relative of Lomandra, and filmy fern Crepidomanes vitiense)

Sydney and surrounds, NSW:

Meetings and excursions start at about 10:30 am on the third Saturday of the month unless otherwise advised.

  • Saturday, 19th May, 2018. Meet from about 10.30 am for 11 am start at Steve Lamont's residence at Castle Cove.
  • Saturday, 16th June, 2018. Meet from about 10.30 am at Stoney Range Botanic Garden (Flora Reserve) at 810 Pittwater Road, Dee Why.
  • Saturday 21st July 2018. Meet from about 11 am at the home of Natalie & John at Willoughby. We will attempt to study aquatic ferns e.g. Marsilea, Isoetes, Ceratopteris, perhaps also emergent semi aquatics such as Acrostichum.
