General Description:
Tetrapora is a small genus of four species all of which are endemic to Western Australia. They are closely related to Baeckea and Babingtonia. Further information on the taxonomy of the genus Rinzia and related plants can be found in Geraldton Wax and its Relatives – Background.
Tetrapora glomerata is compact shrub to about 1 metre high. The leaves are narrowly oval shaped to about 2 – 5 mm long and 1.5 mm wide with a rounded tip. The white teatree-like flowers occur in clusters at the ends of the branches. They are about 5 -7 mm in diameter and are seen mainly in spring.
As far as is known, this species is not widely cultivated although its attractive flowering habit would make it a desirable garden plant for temperate, low humidity climates. It would be expected to be hardy in well drained soils in full sun or dappled shade and for growing in a container.
Seed could be expected to germinate well without pretreatment. Cuttings of firm, current season’s growth should strike readily.
