Dr Kit Prendergast, pollination ecologist (Greening Australia)

Dr Prendergast has been working with Greening Australia to create a central database of insect-plant interactions, and after discussing this project with the ANPSA Acacia Study Group, it was decided to focus on acacias.

A database has been produced which provides insect pollinator data for 1651 Acacia species. Of these species there are 2040 entries of Acacia-animal visitor records. Of these, 776 species have been recorded to visit Acacia.

The species of Acacia with the most records was Acacia acinacea (79 records), A. mearnsii (79 records), A. myrtifolia (76 records), A. saligna (76 records), A. terminalis (74 records) and A. dealbata (56 records). The vast majority of species only had one record.
